Discover the ship with a famous name coming to Sunderland this summer
If you were to name the greatest explorers of all time, James Cook would probably be right up there at the top of the list.
Captain Cook’s achievements are famous and his legacy remains in numerous ways – including the tall ship which is named after him.
She is a class-C ketch sailing from Newcastle and can take 12 trainees as well as her six crew.
Enthusiasts will recognise her when she sails into Sunderland with her distinctive yellow hull.
What a difference she has made to sail training with more than 9,000 young people having been reached.
As well as appearing in The Tall Ships Races, she provides sailing opportunities which include taster trips.

She is more than 68ft long and nearly 88ft high.
The races are expected to bring a £10million to £15million boost to Sunderland’s economy and a fleet of impressive vessels is expected to arrive into Port of Sunderland.
