A cyclist was airlifted to hospital after he fell from his bike in Seaham.

Emergency services were called to the scene off North Road, near the junction with Dene House Road, at 4,20pm on Sunday.
The 40-year-old man had fallen from a bicycle and sustained head and facial injuries.

Hide AdThe Great North Air Ambulance's doctor-led aircrew treated the cyclist, before he was flown to the RVI in Newcastle.
The flight that took just nine minutes, while the same journey by road would have taken about 35 minutes.
