Vile Sunderland dad told ex he ‘hoped she died during childbirth’

Adam Glover, 30, made the vile comment in a WhatsApp message sent to the woman three months after their three-year relationship ended.

And on messaging app Snapchat, he posted images of knives, mentioned her name, talked about self-harm and wrote “there will be mass murders”.

They were two of three offensive communications posted by the homeless sofa-surfer, previously of Dene Park, Castletown, Sunderland, in January.

Prosecutor Glenda Beck told magistrates Glover and the woman had a daughter together but split last October - and she was pregnant by a new partner.

In a statement read to the South Tyneside court by Mrs Beck, the victim said their relationship fell apart due to Glover’s “drug misuse and self-harming”.

On January 10, Glover sent the woman a WhatsApp message with the words, “Hopefully you die giving birth. Some people do”.

A second abusive message followed on the same day in which he told her she would be injured and the “kid will be killed”.

The Snapchat knives images were posted on Wednesday, January 27, with the victim alerted to them by a female she did not know.

In her statement, she said: “I feel harassed about him saying these things about me and my daughter on Snapchat.”

Mrs Beck said: “The victim was pregnant at the time he sent the text about dying giving birth.”

Paul McAlindon, defending, said: “He was suffering mental health issues, which he would say he wasn’t dealing with.

“He was using alcohol as a crutch to ease himself through that. He was using unprescribed medication to help him.”

Glover pleaded guilty to two charges of sending an offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing message.

And he admitted one count of sending a letter or communication conveying false information.

He was handed a 12-month community order, with a requirement of 20 days of rehabilitation work with the Probation Service.

Glover was also hit with a two-year restraining order, which prevents him contacting his ex-partner except around child care.

He was fined £120 and must pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
