Victim in hospital with 'significant injuries' after stabbing - detectives launch witness appeal

A man has been rushed to hospital with ‘sustained significant injuries’ after he was stabbed in a grassed area in Shotton Colliery.

A man in his thirties was stabbed at around 11.30pm on Thursday, May 7, in a grassed area in the rear lane of Dene View, on Salter’s Lane.

The victim was assaulted with an unknown weapon and sustained significant injuries.

He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a stable condition, Durham Constabulary has confirmed.

Now detectives investigating the attack are calling for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward and speak to police.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “Anyone who has any information that could help the investigation should call Durham Constabulary on 101, and ask to speak to PC 2807 Cloke in Peterlee CID.

“Alternatively, information can be passed on to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
