Two arrested after man assaulted in Southwick

Two men have been arrested after police were called to a suspected assault when an injured male visited a pharmacy in Southwick.

The victim required medical attention but is not believed to have been seriously injured in the suspected assault.

Northumbria Police first were called to Lloyds Pharmacy, Southwick, at around 10.40am on Thursday morning (October 1).

Initial inquiries were carried out and two men have since been arrested on suspicion of assault.

The alleged incident is believed to have occurred at an address nearby in The Green, Southwick.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson told the Echo: "Police were alerted to suspected assault after an injured male visited Lloyds Pharmacy, The Green, Sunderland, today (Thursday) at around 10.38am.

"The male required medical attention. Two men, aged 41 and 64, have subsequently been arrested on suspicion of assault."

The victim has received medical attention but his injuries are not believed to be serious.
