Three arrests after police recover weapon from Sunderland property

Northumbria Police officers were called to Belvedere Road on Sunday, August 16 at around 7.45pm.
A force spokesperson confirmed that three men – aged 22, 23 and 28 – were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

Hide AdResidents nearby reported seeing armed officers at the scene.
A police statement said: “Shortly after 7.45pm yesterday we received a report a man was believed to be in possession of a handgun inside a property on Belvedere Road.
“Officers from the neighbourhood policing team attended the scene alongside specialist firearms officers and following a search of the property, three males aged 22, 23 and 28 were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and a weapon was recovered. No one was injured as a result of this incident.
“Three men remain in police custody at this time helping officers with their inquiries.”
