Northumbria Police has confirmed it sent officers to carry out a sweep of an area after a report claiming a man with a weapon had been seen in an area of land off Silksworth Lane earlier today, Wednesday, April 8.A force spokesperson said: “At 10.49 am today we received a report from a concerned caller who believed they had spotted a man with a weapon in the woods opposite The Cavalier near Silksworth Close, Sunderland.
“Police searched the area but stood down the search shortly after 1pm.
“There have been no further sightings of the man.
“If you have any information that can assist please visit the report an incident section of our website, quoting log 348 080320. In an emergency always call 999.”
