Samuel Metcalf targeted B & M’s branch at the Roker Retail Park, Sunderland, to pilfer chocolates, coffee, corned beef and tuna on six separate occasions between October 26-30.

Each offence was also in breach of a criminal behaviour order (CBO) banning him from entering the retail park in the first place.

South Tyneside Magistrates Court locked Metcalf up after deciding that he “has a flagrant disregard for court orders” and because his offending “was aggravated by the defendant’s record of previous offending”.

The 37-year-old shoplifter, of North Bridge Street, Sunderland, stole £163 of chocolate and coffee on October 26 before returning to the store the following day to separately steal £75 and £29 of corned beef.

He then raided £75 of chocolate on October 28, £50 of tuna and corned beef on October 29 and another £20 of chocolate on October 30.
