Sunderland shoplifter jailed after carrying knife and stealing Ferrero Rocher chocolates
A shoplifter has been jailed after he admitted unlawfully carrying a knife and stealing Ferrero Rocher chocolates on the same day.
Adam Colin Michael Sayers, 33, of Franklin Street, Millfield, Sunderland, is behind bars after a court decided that his crimes were “aggravated by the defendant’s record of previous offending”.
Sayers initially denied unlawfully possessing a craft knife in The Green, Southwick, on September 3 before later changing his plea prior to a trial.
He also admitted stealing six boxes of Ferrero Rocher chocolates worth £35.94 from a city B & M store on the same day.
Sayers was imprisoned for six months for the knife offence and one month, which will run concurrently as part of the larger sentence, for the theft.
He also received a two-month jail term, again to run concurrently as part of the six-month sentence, after admitting failing to follow the requirements of a criminal behaviour order.
South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court additionally ordered him to pay A £128 victim surcharge.
