Sunderland sex offender who flouted suspended sentence is finally jailed

Adam Young originally received a 20-week jail term, which was suspended for two years, after he was convicted of sexual touching last year.
But now he is beginning six weeks behind bars after the same court decided to trigger part of the 2019 sentence following his guilty plea to a theft charge.

Hide AdSouth Tyneside Magistrates’ Court deemed “the offence so serious because the offence was committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence” and was his fourth breach.
Young, 20, of Stockley Road, Barmston, Washington, admitted stealing lights, masks, a torch and money from a Vauxhall Corsa car in Horsley Road, Washington, on August 4 this year.
He also pleaded guilty to failing to observe a curfew in August as part of a separate sentence was ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
