Sunderland pair charged after Akita dog allegedly injures male and Cocker Spaniel

Two people are due in court over allegations that an Akita dog injured both a person and a Cocker Spaniel.

Christopher McGuigan, 34, of Marley Crescent, Marley Potts, Sunderland, is accused of being the owner or in charge of a dog which supposedly caused injury to another dog, a Cocker Spaniel called Beth, while dangerously out of control.

Chloe Alderson, 25, of the same address in Marley Crescent, faces a separate charge of being the owner or in charge of a dog which allegedly caused injury to a male person while dangerously out of control.

Both counts relate to an Akita dog called Cole and incidents said to have happened in the city's Mulberry Avenue earlier this year.

McGuigan and Alderson are due to appear before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court, in South Shields, for the first time on Friday, August 28.
