Sunderland man Wayne Miller appears in court to deny murder of Andrew Mather

Wayne Miller is accused of killing Andrew Mather, 48, whose body was found in a house at Aintree Road, Sunderland, last month.

At Newcastle Crown Court today (Monday, July 6) Miller, 32, of Dene Street, Sunderland, who appeared at the hearing via video link to prison, pleaded not guilty to murder.

Judge Paul Sloan QC listed a trial to start on December 2, which may be subject to change due to the coronavirus restrictions on the justice system.

A further pre-trial hearing will take place on October 9.

Miller has been remanded in custody in the meantime.
