Sunderland man tried to hide 12-inch machete down his trousers

Lee Fenbow admitted to being found in possession of a bladed article but denied assaulting an emergency worker at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

Fenbow, of Norton Road in Southwick was found on Hylton Lane on July 27 in possession of a 12-inch machete, which he had tried to hide down his trousers.

The court heard that the 30-year-old was arrested by officers and became aggressive when he was brought into custody.

He had to be restrained by four police officers, during which it is claimed that Fenbow went to bite one of the officers on the knee, something he denies doing.

The case was adjourned until September 11 where it will be heard at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.
