Sunderland man set to appear before crown court judge charged with rape

A Sunderland man faces trial after appearing in court accused of rape.

Thomas Murray, 41, of Norman Avenue, Silksworth, will appear at crown court after magistrates sent the case to be heard before the higher court.

He did not enter a plea to the charge when he appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

Murray was granted bail on condition he resides at his home address and does not contact prosecution witnesses.
