Sunderland man jailed after posting private picture of woman online

A man who posted a private picture of a woman on the internet without her consent has been jailed.

A court was told that Adam McKeith’s victim was distressed by his actions after she was informed about them by a friend.

McKeith, 24, who pleaded guilty to one count of disclosing a private photograph without consent, was told by magistrates that “custody is inevitable given the defendant’s record and disregard of court orders”.

He was jailed for six weeks for the December 24 offence and for 24 weeks in total after also admitting two charges of breaching a restraining order by contacting the same woman earlier in December and on January 19 of this year.

McKeith, of Baxter Road, Town End Farm, Sunderland, who received credit for his guilty pleas, is banned from contacting his victim either directly or indirectly until July 2022 as part of the order.

South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court has also ordered him to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
