Sunderland man due in court following alleged arson attacks in Grangetown

A 28-year-old man is due to appear in court charged with arson following an investigation into number of car fires in the Grangetown area of Sunderland.

Kenneth Sherrington, of Villette Road, Hendon, is due to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with one count of arson.

The charge follows a police investigation into a spate of car fires reported in Grangetown around the New Year.

Northumbria Police has confirmed the 28-year-old will appear before magistrates this morning (Thursday, January 9).
