Stealing meat and assaulting police - the latest Sunderland court cases

Samantha Ann Carter, 42, of Colchester Terrace, Sunderland, was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £400 prosecution costs after she was convicted of two counts of fraud by presenting a stolen credit card on November 14 and 15 last year.

Terry Atkin, 31, whose address was listed in court as Lothian Street, Hartlepool, received a two-year conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a £22 victim surcharge after he admitted stealing £80 of meat from Marks & Spencer, in Sunderland, on May 29, attempting to steal £126 of beer from Morrisons, in Whitburn Road, on May 28 and two counts of wilfully obstructing a police officer on May 28 and May 29.

Nigel Andrew Rose, 43, of Burn Park Road, Houghton, was fined £80 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting failing to surrender to custody on August 29.

Jodi Tyrell, 23, of Cuba Street, Sunderland, received an absolute discharge after pleading special reasons in admitting drink driving on August 1.

Tracey Anne McBurnie, 40, of The Royalty, Sunderland, received an 18-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a £21 victim surcharge and £85 costs after she admitted two counts of assaulting police officers on March 11.

Steven Joseph Barnett, 39, of Church Street, Seaham, was ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work as part of a community order and to pay £300 compensation, a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting committing assault in Sunderland on August 1 and causing criminal damage on the same date.

Kyle James Laing, 21, of Lowland Close, Sunderland, was banned from driving for six months, fined £660 and ordered to pay a £66 victim surcharge and £85 costs after he was convicted of failing to provide information leading to the identity of a driver on March 24.
