Second man denies murder at Sunderland flats
A second man has appeared in court and denied murder at a block of flats.
Sean Mason, 55, died in hospital after he was found with serious injuries at Avondale Avenue in Penshaw shortly after 3am on Saturday, May 16, 2020.
Steven Milroy, 47, of Avondale Avenue, and Wayne Froud, 36, of Wensleydale Avenue, both in Penshaw, are both accused of Mr Mason’s murder.
During a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court in June, Froud pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.
Milroy was not asked to enter a plea to the offence at that stage but during a further pre-trial hearing on Monday, August 24, he entered a plea of not guilty.
Judge Paul Sloan QC said a trial, which could take up to three weeks, will take place on November 17 2020.
Both men are remanded in custody at present.
