During a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court in June, Froud pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.

Milroy was not asked to enter a plea to the offence at that stage but during a further pre-trial hearing on Monday, August 24, he entered a plea of not guilty.

Judge Paul Sloan QC said a trial, which could take up to three weeks, will take place on November 17 2020.

Both men are remanded in custody at present.
