The public have been warned not to approach an escaped Scottish prisoner with connections to the North East.

Northumbria Police have shared an appeal from Police Scotland who are searching for prisoner Michael Anthony Broomfield, an inmate at HMP Castle Huntly, Dundee.

The 34-year-old prisoner was reported missing at 8pm on Monday, February 22 and is believed to have connections in Durham, as well as Spennymoor and Newcastle.

He is described as 6ft 1in, medium build, with medium length dark brown hair and a beard.

He was last seen wearing a black and grey bobble hat, black and grey hooded top and blue jogging bottoms.

Police Scotland is appealing for information regarding Broomfield’s whereabouts, but have urged the public not to approach him.

Anyone who sees him should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3295 of Monday, 22 February, 2021.
