Possession of cocaine, resisting police and criminal damage – the latest Sunderland court cases

The following cases from the Sunderland area were dealt with recently at magistrates’ court. All defendants pleaded guilty unless otherwise stated:

Paul Robert Laidlaw, 33, of Bruce Kirkup Road, Horden, was fined £120 for possession of cocaine on December 26, 2020.

Rebecca Stallard, 34, of Airedale Gardens, Hetton, who denied failure to identify a driver but was convicted in her absence, was fined £660 with six penalty points.

Reece Barnes, 30, of Southend Road, was given a year’s conditional discharge for resisting a police officer.

Steven Anderson, 56, of Hetton-le-Hill, Elemore, who denied two charges of failure to provide information but was convicted, was fined £180 with 12 penalty points.

Michael Milne, 61, of Hartington Street, was jailed for two months, suspended for a year, for possession of a lock knife. He was also made subject to a five-year restraining order.

Paris Griffiths, 23, of Tatham Street, was given a year’s conditional discharge for theft and failure to surrender to bail.

Gareth Snowdon, 30, of Dene Street, was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £400 compensation for criminal damage.
