Possessing machetes and assaulting 999 workers - the latest Sunderland court cases

Lee Gerald Fenbow, 30, of Norton Road, Southwick, Sunderland, received a four month jail term, which was suspended for 18 months, and was ordered to pay £50 compensation, a £95 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs after admitting assaulting an emergency worker and unlawful possession of a machete in a public place on July 27.

Jamie Birrell, 28, whose address was protected from publication, was placed on a community order, fined £70 and ordered to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs after she was convicted of unlawfully possessing a kitchen knife in public in Sunderland on November 19 last year and after she admitted two counts of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour on August 25 and one of failing to surrender to bail on March 11.

Nathan George Ewart,30, of Cockermouth Road, Sunderland, was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting harassment between October 7-9.

Sophie Ross, 23, of King James Court, Downhill, Sunderland was placed on a community order, fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting assault on July 3, causing criminal damage on July 3, making a malicious telephone call on July 5-6, using threatening or abusive words or behaviour on October 11 and breaching the terms of previous community orders.

Gareth Alexander Sheraton, 27, of Mitchell Street, Birtley, was ordered to complete 200 hours unpaid work, pay £250 compensation, a £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting two counts of assaulting police officers in Sunderland on September 11.

Scott Colling, 29, of Petteril, Rickleton, Washington, was banned from driving for a year, fined £135 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting drug driving on October 18 last year.

Siobhan Currie, 27, of Front Road, Sunderland, was banned from driving for 23 months, fined £200 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting drink driving on September 12.
