Police swoop Blackhall street as officers raid house in search of weapon

Police officers have raided a Blackhall Colliery house following concerns there was a potential weapon at the property.

Witnesses reported a number of police cars at the scene on West Street on Wednesday, November 4.

A Durham Constabulary spokesman said: “Officers executed a warrant at an address on West Street in Blackhall Colliery shortly before 5pm last night (November 4) following concerns for a potential weapon in the property.

“An air rifle was discovered inside the property which was seized by officers. Inquiries are ongoing.”
