A man was found lying injured in the street after being attacked with metal poles outside of a Sunderland pub.

Police were called to Fawcett Street just before 1am on January 7, following a report that a man had been assaulted.

A 48-year-old man had been the victim of a sustained attack outside The William Jameson pub, with two offenders using metal poles as weapons.

Police attended and found the injured victim lying in the street. He was taken to hospital after suffering a fractured shoulder as a result of the incident.

An investigation was launched and as part of their enquiries, officers have now released the images of two men they would like to speak to.

They were in the area at the time of the incident and could have information that can assist with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of their website or by calling 101 quoting crime number 008326A/21.
