Police receive reports of man shooting at pigeons and horses with air weapon in Sunderland

Officers were called to reports of a man believed to be in possession of an air weapon who was shooting at pigeons and fired in the direction of a horse in South Hylton.

Northumbria Police received a report shortly before 5pm on Sunday, March 14 of a man believed to be in possession of an air weapon in the Hylton Bank area of Sunderland.

It was reported that the male was shooting at pigeons and also fired in the direction of a horse before officers attended.

Police say the male had left the area when officers arrived and no animals have been reported to be injured.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 5pm yesterday (Sunday) we received a report of a man believed to be in possession of an air weapon in the Hylton Bank area of Sunderland.

“It was reported that the male was shooting at pigeons and also fired in the direction of a horse. Officers attended but the male had already left the area. No animals have been reported as injured.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or by calling 101 quoting log 731 140321.”
