Police provide update after body found in Sunderland home and man arrested on suspicion of drug offences

A man arrested on suspicion of drug offences after a 49-year-old was found dead at a Sunderland property has been released under investigation.

Officers were called to Hudson Road in Hendon, Sunderland, at around 9.40am on Saturday, March 27, after a report from the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS).

Northumbria Police later confirmed that a 49-year-old man was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.

An investigation was launched and a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 9.40am on Saturday we received a report from the ambulance service that a man had died at a property on Hudson Road in Sunderland.

"Emergency services attended the scene and a 49-year-old man was sadly confirmed dead. Enquiries into the circumstances around the death are ongoing.

"A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying a Class A drug and has been released under investigation."
