Police have issued a warning after fatal drugs were stolen from a car in Sunderland.

Several bottles containing fatal animal medication were taken when a car was broken into on the night of Saturday, January 18.

The drugs, which were kept in a small locked metal box, are said to be fatal to humans and police have urged for them to be returned safely.

Investigations were ongoing and officers say they are working to inform people of the dangers.

Northumbria Police said: “Offenders stole a small locked metal box containing three bottles of medication from a car last night.

“The medication is for animals and is fatal to humans.

“An investigation is ongoing and officers are warning people about the dangers of the medication and urging for the drugs to be returned safely.”
