At 6.20pm on Sunday 24 January, a large group of what are believed to be football fans were heard and seen shouting misogynistic abuse towards lone women, making antisemitic comments and Nazi salutes, and making racist comments towards railway staff.

The reported incident took place on the train from London King's Cross on the day Sunderland AFC had played West Ham United.

A BTP spokesman said the abuse started early on in the journey.

Nine males, aged between 14 and 48, have been interviewed in connection with the incident and have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A BTP spokesperson said: “We would like to speak to the man pictured, as we believe they may have information which could help our investigation.

“Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact the British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, and quoting reference 615 of 24 January.”
