Officers soon uncovered evidence from a number of years which subsequently led to the pair being charged with a string of offences committed against a boy and a girl.

The couple pleaded guilty at Newcastle Crown Court in November 2025, and appeared before the same court on Friday (February 20) where Kieron Lewis was sentenced to 4 years and 10 months and Bowey received 4 years and 1 month imprisonment.

Detective Constable David Laybourne of Northumbria Police - the officer in charge of the case - said: “First and foremost, I would like to the victims for their bravery and courage.

“Thanks to their co-operation and the incredible strength they have throughout the course of our investigation, two dangerous predators are now behind bars.

“Lewis and Bowey preyed upon them repeatedly and they have now been brought to justice for their disgusting behaviour.

“Protecting and supporting vulnerable victims is our top priority as a Force, and we will continue to do everything in our power to ensure offenders such as Lewis and Bowey are brought before the courts.

“If you have been a victim, we would encourage you to take that first step and come forward. You will be listened to, and you will be supported.”
