One man arrested and a weapon recovered following an incident in Silksworth

Northumbria Police have arrested a man and recovered a weapon after being called to an address in the Silksworth area following concerns for a male.

Officers were called to an address in the Silksworth area of Sunderland shortly before 7pm on Tuesday, January 12, after they received reports of concern for a male.

Police attended the scene and located the man nearby – where they arrested him and are understood to have recovered a weapon.

The force have confirmed that the man is currently in police custody and it is not known at this time if anyone has been hurt in the incident.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We were called at 6.40pm on Tuesday, January 12, to an address in the Silksworth area of Sunderland after receiving reports of concern for a male.

"Officers located the man nearby the address and a weapon has since been recovered.

"He was arrested and he currently remains in police custody.”
