Officers discover 200 cannabis plants following tip-off about possible drugs farm

Around 200 cannabis plants have been found by police officers who raided a Wearside home.

Northumbria Police were called to Mill Terrace, Houghton, following reports that there could be a cannabis farm at a property in the street.

The force confirmed to the Echo that a number of plants were discovered when officers raided the address.

No arrests have yet been made.

Officers were spotted in the street on the morning of Sunday, November 24 following a tip-off the previous day.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “At about 5.20pm on Saturday, November 23 police received a report of a possible cannabis farm at an address on Mill Terrace.

“Officers attended the property and found approximately 200 plants. The plants have been dismantled but nobody has been arrested.”
