No insurance, driving with excess alcohol and fraud - the latest Sunderland court cases

The following cases from the Sunderland area were dealt with recently at magistrates’ court. All defendants pleaded guilty unless otherwise stated:

Thomas McArdle, 21, of Athol Park, was fined £400 with six penalty points for using a vehicle without insurance and driving without a valid licence on February 1, 2020, and failure to surrender to bail on February 28, 2020.

David Rooke, 20,of Stainton Grove, was fined £150 and banned for a year for driving with excess alcohol.

Darren Malcolm Potter, 48, of Cleveland Drive, Lambton, Washington, who initially denied fraud between August and September 2018 but subsequently pleaded guilty, was ordered to pay £2,000 compensation.

The Cleaning Company Group NE Ltd, of Ellesmere Court, was fined £792 for failure to identify a driver on June 24, 2020.

Scott Lewis Greener, 31, of Appleby Square, who was convicted in his absence of driving without a valid licence, using a vehicle without insurance and failure to wear a seatbelt on June 30, 2020, was fined £180 and banned for six months.

Jane Hall, 53, of Bishopdale, Houghton, was fined £575 with six penalty points for speeding.

Steven John Wilson, 33, of Hevingham Close, who denied failure to identify a driver on March 30, 2020, but was convicted in his absence, was fined £660 and banned for six months.
