Here are nine people jailed or given suspended sentences during March.
They all appeared at Newcastle Crown Court unless otherwise stated.
5. Ryan Stubbs
Stubbs, 26, of Marley Crescent, Sunderland, admitted assault. Mr Recorder Tom Moran sentenced him to 30 months behind bars, with a 15-year restraining order
6. Philip Kirk
Kirk, 30, of Arklecragg, Albany, Washington, pleaded guilty to one count of making indecent images of children and one count of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He was sentenced to seven years and two months in prison and will remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register (SOR) for the rest of his life
7. Robert Coates
Coates, 35, of Galashields Road, Sunderland, admitted dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and having no insurance. Judge Edward Bindloss sentenced him to nine months, suspended for two years, with rehabilitation requirements, 150 hours unpaid work and a two year road ban with extended test requirement
8. Syed Miah
Miah, 32, of Salem Hill, Hendon, Sunderland, admitted burglary. He he was given 21 months, suspended for two years, with rehabilitation requirements and 240 hours unpaid work, for the burglary
