The schoolgirl had to be checked over at hospital after suffering from suspected concussion in the attack, and she is still suffering from headaches days on from Sunday afternoon’s assault.

The family – who do not wish to be named in order to protect their daughter’s identity - say the attack was unprovoked and the schoolgirl was kicked and punched a number of times after she was pulled to the floor after a confrontation over her appearance.

The attack happened as the girl was on the phone to her father, who remained on the line throughout after she told him she was worried about what was going to happen as the group approached her.
