Man wanted after burglary at city centre house

Police are wanting the public’s help to trace this man following an incident in which a burglar was confronted by a householder.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: “We want to speak to him in connection with a burglary where property was stolen from a house in Saddler’s Yard, off Saddler Street, Durham.”

The force say the incident happened at about 7.45pm on Saturday, March 14, when a man entered the insecure city centre property and stole the property from the kitchen before being confronted by one of the residents and leaving.

The spokesperson added: “The suspect is believed to have gone to the Co-op store, in Brandon, later that evening, and is pictured on CCTV wearing a black hat, red scarf, grey jacket and dark trousers and shoes. He was also carrying a B&M bag for life.
