Man suffers serious injuries in collision between pedestrian and car near Hardwick Hall

A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a collision between a car and a pedestrian early today near the Hardwick Hall hotel.

Now police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The incident happened on the A177 road between the venue and Sedgefield at about 12.15am this morning, Monday, May 31.

A 24-year-old man sustained serious injuries and is currently being treated in hospital.

Police are keen to trace anyone who may be able to help with their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.

Officers say they are particularly eager to speak to anyone who was travelling in the area at the time and are asking drivers who may have dashcam footage that could help the inquiry to contact them as soon as possible.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Durham Constabulary’s Roads Policing Unit at Spennymoor Police Station on 101, quoting incident reference 10 of Monday, May 31.
