A man is due in court today after another man was found with a stab wound in Washington.

A 22-year-old man has now been charged in connection with the incident and will appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court today, Monday, March 15.

A North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) spokesperson confirmed one of its crews was attending an incident at a private address when they came across the alleged victim and took him to hospital.

It is not believed his condition is life-threatening and police have said the pair are known to each other.

NEAS sent an additional ambulance, a specialist paramedic and called in support from the Great North Air Ambulance.
