A man has been charged with attempted rape and aggravated burglary following a police appeal.

A 31-year-old man was arrested in Durham on Saturday morning (January 30) following a police social media appeal to find him.

He has now been charged with attempted rape and aggravated burglary and will appear at court on Monday morning (February 1).

The 31-year-old has also been charged with two counts of burglary in Durham City and one count of fraud.

Posting an update on social media, Durham Constabulary said: “He has been remanded and will appear at court tomorrow morning.

“Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal”
