A man remains in custody following his arrest on suspicion of burglary after he was discovered at a garage on a property on Queen Alexandra Road.

Officers have detained a 38-year-old man on suspicion of burglary after he was discovered in the early hours at an address on Queen Alexandra Road in Sunderland.

The incident took place shortly after 4.20am on Thursday, October 1 when the man disturbed the occupants while at garage on their property.

Police attended the Sunderland address and arrested the man at the scene – he currently remains in police custody.

"It was reported that the occupants had disturbed an intruder within their property. Officers attended and a 38-year-old was arrested on suspicion of burglary, he remains in police custody."
