Durham Constabulary has confirmed its officers arrested a 26-year-old man in Seaham last night, Tuesday, June 16, on suspicion of attempting to meet a child under 16 following grooming.
It is also alleged he attempted to incite a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity.
He remains in police custody as inquiries into the claims continue.
