Investigation ongoing after another fraudulent luxury car worth around £97K is recovered in Seaham

A Mercedes, valued at around £97,000, has been recovered from Seaham as part of police operation.

Durham Constabulary has confirmed another fraudulently leased luxury car is off the streets on Thursday, November 12.

A spokesman for the force said: “This Mercedes - valued at around £97,000 - was recovered from Ropery Walk, in Seaham.

“Officers from the North East Regional Economic Crime Unit (RECU) are involved in Operation Sentinel, an agreement between, Durham Constabulary, Northumbria Police and Cleveland Police to target serious and organised crime in the region.”

Durham Constabulary confirmed inquiries surrounding the recovery of the vehicle remain ongoing.

During the raids on Tuesday, November 10, a 39-year-old was arrested in Seaham on suspicion of fraud and money laundering. He was later released under investigation.
