Investigation launched into suspected arson attack after taxi fire in Sunderland

An investigation has been launched into a suspected arson attack following a taxi fire in Sunderland.

Emergency services were called to Woodland Drive, Sunderland, at around 6am on Friday, November 27, to deal with a white minibus that was on fire.

Fire crews were able to put out the blaze and no one was injured.

Now police have launched an investigation into the incident which they are treating as suspected arson.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Shortly before 6am on Friday, November 27 we were alerted by the fire service to a car fire on Woodland Drive, Sunderland.

“Emergency services attended the scene and found a white minibus ablaze.

"The fire was extinguished and thankfully nobody was injured.

“An investigation has been launched into the incident which we are currently treating as suspected arson.
