An investigation has been launched into a suspected arson attack following a taxi fire in Sunderland.

Fire crews were able to put out the blaze and no one was injured.

Now police have launched an investigation into the incident which they are treating as suspected arson.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Shortly before 6am on Friday, November 27 we were alerted by the fire service to a car fire on Woodland Drive, Sunderland.

“Emergency services attended the scene and found a white minibus ablaze.

"The fire was extinguished and thankfully nobody was injured.
