Gang of youths attack man and woman with shopping trolley handles behind nightclub

A man and woman were hospitalised after they were assaulted by a gang of youths who used shopping trolley handles to attack the pair.

Durham Constabulary are now appealing for information and witnesses after the assault which took place at the Dene, to the rear of Peterlee’s Vibe Nightclub.

A group of youths are believed to have used shopping trolley handles to attack the pair at around 8.45pm yesterday (Thursday, October 29).

Officers investigating the incident are asking for anyone with information or saw any youths dismantling trolleys to contact them.

Both victims were taken to hospital to have their injuries treated.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “Police are appealing for information after a man and woman were assaulted in Peterlee last night

“Officers investigating the assault are appealing for anybody who witnessed the assault, or who witnessed the youths dismantling the shopping trolleys, to contact Durham Police on 101, quoting incident number 374 of October 29.”
