Former Sunderland AFC staff member arrested in sexual grooming investigation released with no further action
A former member of Sunderland AFC's academy staff, who was previously arrested on suspicion of meeting a child under 16 following sexual grooming, will face no further action from Northumbria Police.
The force confirmed to the Echo on Friday, February 28 that the man, who was 60 when arrested in January last year, has now been released.
A police spokesman said in a statement: “A 61-year-old man who was arrested has been released with no further action to be taken.”
