Between Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, rubbish was illegally dumped at Pottery Lane, South Hylton.
It included old laminate flooring, as well as boxes and bags of other debris, such as polystyrene packaging, household waste and Christmas decorations.

This dumping was carried out in broad daylight.
The woodland is yards from Pottery Lane, which itself leads down to the banks of the River Wear.
Both incidents have been reported. However, there have been a number of other fly-tipping instances in the area and residents are angry.

Hide AdOne resident told the Echo: “It’s happening all the time down there because it’s so secluded. They’re always dumping there. There should be cameras there.
"A lot of it is from people doing DIY and they’re coming from all over.
“It’s ridiculous and it’s getting worse. I actually feel sorry for the council. They can’t do everything.
“There’s no excuse either. The way the tip works now you don’t have to sit around waiting in a queue to get rid of your rubbish.”

Hide AdCouncillor Michael Mordey, deputy council leader and cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Fly-tipping is not only illegal and anti-social but it can also be extremely dangerous when it is dumped in the middle of a road as was the case here.
"We have already made it clear that we have a zero tolerance approach to anyone who we catch fly-tipping or littering.
“We know that the vast majority of our residents take a real pride in where they live and hate to see their neighbourhoods blighted by waste.
"So we would appeal to anyone who has any information that could help us catch the culprits to come forward with information and report it at www.sunderland.gov.uk/report-it.”
