Fears over 'severe medical' danger of dog drugs to people after pills are snatched by thief

A health warning has been issued by detectives after pet pills, which are dangerous if taken by people, were stolen in a house raid.

Around 50 small white steroid tablets, stored in a prescription bottle, were taken during the suspected burglary in Harvey Close between midnight last night, Friday, November 6, and 8am this morning, Saturday, November 7.

Other items taken included a charcoal-coloured Acer laptop, cable and headset, a ladies black leather purse and around £50 in cash.

Detective Constable John Forster, of Peterlee CID, said: “These tablets could cause severe medical issues if consumed by humans.

“I would urge anyone who has any information about the whereabouts of the tablets or any other stolen items to report it to us urgently.”

Anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident reference number 88 of November 7.
