Durham Police warns families in force area of 'problems' with 101 number

Members of the public living across the Durham Constabulary force area are being warned of issues with the police’s telephone network.

Durham Constabulary announced on Saturday, January 18 that there are issues with its non-emergency contact number, 101.

This means that those wishing to contact the force, when the situation is not an emergency, will have to wait until the phone line is running as normal.

A spokesperson for Durham Police: “We are currently experiencing problems with our telephone network involving the number 101.

“We hope to have the matter resolved as soon as possible. In the meantime, unless you have an emergency please retry later in the day.”

The force’s email facility is not monitored 24 hours-a-day and emails and messages are sent to an inbox that is only monitored from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

Durham Police’s 999 emergency number is unaffected.
