Drug driving, assault and cocaine possession - a round up of the latest Sunderland court cases

The following cases from the Sunderland area have all been dealt with at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court recently.

Darren Kay, 25, of The Oval, Ouston, near Chester-le-Street, was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £80 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs after admitting drug driving in Fence Houses on April 10.

Daniel Reece Fletcher, 28, of Elizabeth Street, Sunderland, received a six-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a £21 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting failing to disclose criminal convictions while obtaining motor insurance on March 6.

Joseph Brannigan, 30, of Southend Road, Springwell, Sunderland, received a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a £22 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting using threatening or abusive words or behaviour on June 13.

Angela Ganley, 40, of Beechbrooke, Ryhope, Sunderland, was banned fro driving for 18 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs after admitting drink driving on May 8.

James Armstrong Shipley, 32, of Halstead Square, Sunderland, was fined £90 and ordered to pay £40 compensation, a £30 victim surcharge and £150 costs after admitting committing assault on May 26. A restraining order was also made forbidding him from contacting his victim for 12 months.

Erica Rachael Purvis, 28, of Athol Road, Hendon, Sunderland, received a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a £22 victim surcharge after admitting possessing cocaine on May 6.
