Danger driver admitted leading police on high-speed chase on A690 which ended in crash
A motorist took police on a high speed daytime chase which ended when he crashed, a court heard.
Shaun Gooch, 33, of Cottages Road, Seaham, sped along the A690 at Houghton in his Volvo S60 at noon on Wednesday, April 22.
The pursuit came to an end when he lost control, South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court was told.
Gooch pleaded guilty to driving dangerously and driving without insurance.
He will be sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court after magistrates told him their sentencing powers were insufficient for his crimes.
Amrit Jandoo, defending, said: “This is a high speed police chase on the A690.
“The vehicle has been brought to a stop by the defendant losing control.
“The matters are not suitable for your jurisdiction and should be committed to the crown court in due course.”
Magistrates adjourned the case for reports and Gooch was granted unconditional bail to attend the crown court for sentencing on Friday, August 14.
