Neighbourhood Inspector Jamie Southwell has thanked the local community for their support and says the warrant should send out a strong message to anybody involved in drug-dealing and misuse across the city.

“The illicit sale and misuse of drugs is far from a victimless crime – it can have devastating and potentially fatal consequences for users, their families and the wider community as a whole,” Insp Southwell said.

“We hope this activity sends a reassuring message to those living in Hendon.

“They have reported their concerns to us and we have taken swift and decisive action to try and uncover suspected criminality.

“We have now been able to seize a number of drugs and prevent them from coming onto our streets. We have spoken to two people in connection with the investigation and a man has now been charged with drug-related offences.

“Anyone who is concerned about drug-dealing or drug misuse in their area is encouraged to get in touch. This case shows we will take proactive action following any intelligence received and we will continue to look to bring perpetrators to justice.”

Anyone with information about suspected drug dealing is asked to contact police on 101 or by using the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of its website.

Alternatively, people can report it anonymously by calling independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
