CCTV shows stolen car crash through butchers' wall leaving owner with hundreds of pounds of repair bills

Owner John McMurchie has now forked out £1,200 to repair the walls as a police investigation remains ongoing to find those responsible.
CCTV footage from McMurchie Meats shows the car skidding into the wall which comes crashing down before they make off on foot.

Hide AdIt then shows those responsible return to the scene of the crash in another car and are searching the suspected stolen vehicle before fleeing from the scene a second time.
John, who has owned the store in Caroline Street for 11 years, said: “The car wasn’t aiming at our property, they’ve hit ice and haven’t made the turn.
"It was unregistered and suspected stolen so they were, however, up to no good.
"If you watch on in the CCTV it shows them come back in a Fiesta and look through the crashed car – the audacity of it.”

Hide AdNow John has had to pay £1,200 to repair the rear walls – money he would have preferred to spend on the shop.
“[When I first found out] I was annoyed and disheartened. Everyone works so hard here, it doesn’t just affect me it affects every one.
"I don’t live in Hetton but I do run a business here and I want the place to look good. Hetton is a good little shopping area, it has everything you need.”
Days after the incident, Hetton Interchange was targeted by vandals who smashed rows of glass windows in the bus shelters – further angering the local community. A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 10.15pm on Friday we received a report that a car had collided into the wall of a butchers shop on Fairy Street, Hetton-le-hole.

Hide Ad“The occupants of the vehicle were reported to have exited the car, which is believed to have been stolen, and fled on foot.
